By the Arctic Sea, in the end of the Alta fjord the flat rock panels are filled with pictures. The huge rock art area in Jiepmaluokta, Alta (about 4000–1000 BC) is built for tourists and researchers. The figures have been painted visible with a red colour. The wooden footpaths lead the tourists in front of the pictures. You may not step on the rock. The number of drawings is enourmous. From the footpaths you can see about ten fields with hundreds of drawings. But there is much more.

Jäämeren rannalla, Altavuonon pohjukassa laakeat kalliot on hakattu täyteen kuvia. Altan Jiepmaluoktan (n. 4000–1000 eKr.) valtava kalliopiirrosalue on rakennettu turismin ja tutkimuksen käyttöön. Kuviot on maalattu esiin kirkkaalla punaisella värillä. Puiset sillat kantavat turistiryhmiä kuvien äärelle. Kalliolle ei saa astua. Kuvia on valtavasti. Nähtäväksi on tarjottu kymmenkunta piirroskenttää, kauempana on paljon lisää.
